Pavement Program

The City of Piqua maintains nearly 111 centerline miles of publicly owned and maintained roadway which equates to 0.67 square miles, or over 18.6 million square feet, of pavement area. 

Maintenance and rehabilitation on the City’s pavement network is performed annually to address streets that are in poor condition and to extend the service life of streets in good condition. 

Streets are one of the City’s most valuable assets with a replacement value estimated at approximately $27.5 million to mill and overlay every street.

Program Benefits

• Inventory management of all streets maintained by the city.    
• Current and historical record of documentation of all maintenance and rehabilitation treatments performed by the City.    
• Strives to maintain an overall Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of 70 or better.  PCI of 70 and above are considered good to excellent condition.    
• Identifies and generates a recommended Annual Street List to maximize results based on existing conditions and available funding.     
• Implements required  ADA and Curb Ramp Improvements to meet current standards.       
• Striping Plan review by Engineering Manager to identify opportunistic roadway striping improvements to enhance Mobility and Traffic Safety.
